Today is the fourth day of India vs West Indies second test. In this Test being played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, India declared the first innings at 518 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal (175) and Shubman Gill (129*) scored centuries. On the third day, West Indies’ first innings was reduced to 248 runs, the visiting team could not save the follow-on. Kuldeep Yadav took 5 wickets and Ravindra Jadeja took 3 wickets. On the basis of first innings, India took a lead of 270 runs. West Indies’ second innings continues.
The way West Indies’ first innings collapsed, it seemed that India would win the match on the third day itself. But this did not happen, a partnership of 135 runs was made between John Campbell (87) and Shai Hope (66), both of whom will take the West Indies innings forward on the fourth day today.
On the basis of first innings, India had gained a lead of 270 runs, then it was felt that India would win by one innings. In the second innings of West Indies, Mohammed Siraj took the first wicket in the form of Tejnarine Chanderpaul (10). After this Washington Sundar bowled Alik Athanaz (7). After this, John Campbell and Shai Hope did not stop but started scoring runs at a fast pace. By the end of the third day’s play, Campbell had scored 87 runs after playing 145 balls, in this innings he hit 2 sixes and 9 fours.
Shai Hope has scored 66 runs in 103 balls, he hit 2 sixes and 8 fours in this innings. West Indies are still 97 runs behind. The way both the batsmen played on the third day, it seems that India will have to come out to bat in the second innings.
