IND vs WI Test Series: Team India’s opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal’s dream of a double century remained unfulfilled on the second day of the ongoing second Test match between India and West Indies. Jaiswal, who was batting brilliantly, was unfortunately run out and that too due to a misunderstanding with fellow batsman Shubman Gill.
Shocking run out!
The incident took place in the initial session of the second day. Jaiswal played a powerful drive towards mid-off and ran for a quick run. He had crossed almost half the pitch, when captain Shubman Gill, present at the non-striker’s end, signaled him to stop. Jaiswal tried to make a comeback, but by then the ball was directly in the fielder’s hands.
In an instant the throw came, the bails flew, and Jaiswal’s innings ended at 173 runs. Disappointment was clearly visible on his face. While returning from the field, a slight altercation was seen between the two players, which was captured by the cameras.
Shock on the brink of double century
On the first day, Jaiswal batted brilliantly and stayed on the pitch the whole day. He scored unbeaten 173 runs in 253 balls, which included 22 fours. He showed patience and balanced batting in the initial sessions and as the ball got older, he increased his strike rate. After completing his half-century in 82 balls, he scored his next fifty in just 63 balls. As soon as he crossed 150 runs, he seemed to be moving towards another double century, but on the second day his luck left him.
Kumble had expressed confidence, but fate betrayed him.

Former captain Anil Kumble had said before the match that Jaiswal “has the hunger to play long innings and the courage to change the match on his own.” He had hoped that Jaiswal could reach a triple century in this match, but a wrong call ruined everything.
Jaiswal is in form, expecting big innings in future
Although this incident of run out was disappointing, it is clear from Jaiswal’s batting that he is currently in the best form of his career. His technique, patience and aggression have impressed everyone. If he plays in this rhythm, many big records will be in his name in the future.
