As the assembly elections in Bihar are approaching, political rhetoric is increasing. Meanwhile, the ‘India’ alliance has toughened its stand regarding the Waqf (Amendment) Act.
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and CPI(ML) general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya on Sunday (26 October) clearly said that if the ‘India’ coalition government is formed, then this law will not be allowed to be implemented in the state.

While addressing the election rally in Katihar district of Seemanchal, Tejashwi Yadav said that if the new government is formed, this controversial Waqf law will be thrown into the dustbin. He alleged that the BJP government is trying to create a rift between communities through this law. This statement of Tejashwi also got the support of Congress MP Tariq Anwar. Anwar said that Congress Party is against the Waqf Act and we fully support this stand of Tejashwi. He also added that opposition leaders like Mamata Banerjee have also been opposing this bill.

Meanwhile, CPI (ML)’s Dipankar Bhattacharya, while releasing his party’s manifesto ‘Parivartan Sankalp Patra’ in Patna, said that not only the Waqf Act, but all other ‘anti-federal structure’ laws brought by the Center will also not be implemented in Bihar. He termed the prohibition law implemented in the state since 2016 as a ‘sham’ and said that after coming to power, this law will be thoroughly reviewed.
At the same time, Jan Suraj Party chief Prashant Kishore also gave a big statement on liquor ban. He said that if his party comes to power, ‘this fake prohibition law’ will be abolished and the revenue from it will be invested in the development of Bihar.

Amidst the political turmoil, Congress also announced that after the festival of Chhath, Rahul Gandhi will come to Bihar and will stay in the state on 29 and 30 October. Along with him, preparations are also going on for rallies of other senior leaders including Priyanka Gandhi and party president Mallikarjun Kharge.

At the same time, BJP is already ahead in the campaign. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold rallies in Muzaffarpur and Chapra on October 30, while in Bhojpur and Nawada on November 2.
