The joint report of the media partners Asia, IP House and the Confederation of Indian Industry said that the condition of digital piracy in India has become very alarming. In 2024 only 90 million users have seen pirated video content, which caused a huge loss of $ 1.2 billion. This amount is equal to about 10 percent of India’s legal video industry.
Large losses from digital piracy
The report further states that if the brake is not applied on it, then by 2029, about 158 million people will reach the illegal pirated video and it will have to bear the brunt of the video industry.
However, the report has definitely underlined that if anti -piracy steps are taken, then this digital video sector has so much capacity that they can recover again. In this way, it can be strictly earned by earning $ 1.1 billion. Also, 47,000 new jobs can be generated by 2029 by applying. 05 billion dollars in content creation.
The ability to recover the video industry
About 1,58,000 direct and indirect employment can be generated from 2025 to 2029 by anti -piracy steps. Also, such a step can protect digital platforms. Apart from this, the contribution of digital videos in tax can also be increased further. However, despite the immense possibilities in India’s online video at this time, piracy remains a major challenge in front of it.
