The United Nations Human Rights High Commissioner Volcar Turk has expressed concern over the situation of Rohingya Muslims and people taking shelter in various countries. He has urged these countries to try in this direction for the US, Pakistan, Iran, European countries and refugees living in India. He claims that India has deported Rohingya Muslims from the country through land and water. On Monday (September 8, 2025), he said these things while presenting information on his global update in the 60th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva.

According to PTI reports, Volcker Turk said that in some countries, policies and practices violating the rights of migrants and refugees have been made normal, which is a matter of serious concern. He said, ‘Human rights, all human rights are strong foundations of rich societies, but today dangerous trends that weaken these rights are increasing globally.’

Volcar Turk also expressed concern over the Afghans being forcibly out of Pakistan and Iran and said that India has also expelled groups of Rohingya Muslims from the country. He also expressed concern over the recent policies of Germany, Greece, Hungary and other European countries that aim to limit the right to demand asylum.

Volcker Turk also stated that the US has entered into agreements with several countries including Al Salvador, South Sudan, Estin and Rwanda, under which citizens of third countries are being sent to other places instead of their own country, which feared violation of international law.

According to the human rights organization ‘Human Rights Watch’, around 40,000 Rohingya are living in India, of which at least 20,000 are registered in the United Nations Refugee Agency. He urged all countries to try in this direction, so that every child, whether he becomes a farmer in future, becomes a doctor or shopkeeper, understand that human rights is his birthright.
