India has once again expressed concern over violence and atrocities against minorities in Bangladesh. India says that the Bangladesh government should take strict action against those responsible for such attacks. This statement was made by Indian Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal on Wednesday.
Last week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised the issue of safety of minorities in Bangladesh including Hindus during his meeting with Unus, the chief advisor of the Inter -Government of Bangladesh during the BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said during a weekly media briefing in New Delhi on Wednesday, “We have expressed our concerns over the violence and atrocities against minorities in Bangladesh.
The meeting held in Bangkok was the first face-to-face meeting between the two leaders after the removal of the Awami League government led by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the formation of an interim government under the leadership of Younus in the neighboring country. During the discussion, Prime Minister Modi urged that any rhetoric that spoils the atmosphere should be avoided and expressed confidence that all issues of mutual interests between the two countries would continue to be resolved bilaterally through creative discussions in the interest of long -term bilateral relations of the two countries.
After the BIMSTEC Summit, Foreign Secretary Vikram Egyptian said, “The Prime Minister also underlined India’s concerns about the safety and safety of minorities in Bangladesh including Hindus and hoped that the Bangladesh government would ensure their safety by intensively investigating all cases of atrocities against him.”
