India is preparing to buy 114 Rafale fighter jets at a cost of about Rs 3.25 lakh crore, due to which there is an atmosphere of fear in Pakistan. Fearing the increasing power of the Indian Air Force, Pakistan has once again resorted to China. In response to India’s Rafale purchase, Pakistan had included Chinese J-10CE fighter jet for its air force. Now Pakistan’s CDF Asim Munir is planning to increase the J-10CE fleet in its Air Force.
What is Pakistan’s plan to counter Rafale?
Apart from this, Pakistan is accelerating the process of inducting the fifth generation J-35 stealth fighter jet into its Air Force. The Pakistani Air Force is finalizing plans to order an additional 60 to 70 J-10CE fighter aircraft. J-10CE and J-35 are being seen as Pakistan’s strategy to counter India’s growing Rafale fleet.
According to the report of Defense.in, Pakistan also aims to prepare a fleet of 40 J-35 stealth fighters. Although this fighter jet aircraft is still undergoing testing. To strengthen its air force in the future, Pakistan is looking to include J-10CE and J-35 in its fleet, which will strengthen the PAF for the next 20 years.
PAK engaged in project to advance JF-17
The report claims that Pakistan is planning to make a big investment in Project Azam. The objective of this project is to develop an advanced version of JF-17, which will have better stealth, avionics and propulsion systems. If J-35 is inducted into PAF, it will be Pakistan’s first stealth aircraft, which is designed to penetrate air defense networks.
Pakistan is also dependent on America’s F-16
Despite being heavily tilted towards China, Pakistan remains dependent on its American-made F-16 fleet, which remains a vital part of its air defence. The United States has recently approved a maintenance package of $686 million to keep these aircraft operational. The agreement focuses solely on maintenance, hardware upgrades and improved data links to ensure that the fleet remains operational till 2040.
The Pakistan Air Force views the F-16 as a legacy platform for air defence, while it is dependent on China for high-technology aircraft. To improve itself technically, Pakistan is also moving towards Turkey. Recent reports have revealed that Pakistan is trying to join Turkey’s KAAN fifth generation fighter jet program.
