Ind vs pak asia cup 2025: The Supreme Court refused to hear the petition filed to cancel the India-Pakistan T20 match to be held on 14 September. The court said let the match happen. We will not stop. Explain that 4 LLB students filed a public interest litigation in the Supreme Court, citing other incidents including Pahalgam terror attack and called the match with Pakistan a mockery of national sentiments. In such a situation, the question arises whether the Supreme Court can stop the India-Pakistan match, to force BCCI for this? Let’s know the rules
What did the Supreme Court say?
The Supreme Court is the Supreme Court of India and can hear PILs under Article 32 of the Constitution. If a case is related to national interest or fundamental rights of citizens, then the court can intervene. The court interferes only when there is a concrete legal basis. The court does not directly control sports events such as everyday decisions of government or autonomous institutions. The court clarified that stopping events like matches do not come in the judicial sector, unless a concrete legal violation is proved. That is, if an event clearly violates Article 21 (right to life and personal freedom) of the Constitution, such as it threatens public health or discrimination, the court can intervene. But events like cricket matches, who are associated with entertainment and sports, are considered a court policy case.
What was the demand of the petitioners
The petitioners demanded that the match should be canceled. Until Pakistan stops supporting terrorism, India should not do any sports or cultural program with it. At the same time, priority should be given to the national security, public spirit and morale of the soldiers, not entertainment ‘.
Now whose hand is the decision
So now the question arises that after this decision of the Supreme Court, who can decide to ban the match, then the answer is BCCI, that is, in this matter only the BCCI can take the decision whether the match will be played or not. Please tell that BCCI is the richest cricket board in the world. Its income mainly comes from broadcasting rights (TV and digital), sponsorship and ticket sales. It is the main responsibility to promote cricket and take a decision keeping in mind the interests of the players. The BCCI can take a decision on cricket’s policy matters.
Why this match is special
Let us know that India and Pakistan are to match in Dubai on 14 September. Both teams will be face to face. This match is also special because this will be the first match between the two countries after the Pahalgam terror attack.
