India Pakistan Height: Till 1947, India and Pakistan were one country. Genetics, culture and living conditions were the same. But today questions are often raised about differences in physical development. Let us know which of the two countries’ women are taller. Are girls in India really taller than girls in Pakistan and if so then why did this difference arise with time.

What do the statistics say?

The average height of women in India is about 152 to 155 centimeters. If we talk about Pakistan, the average height of women here is about 154 centimeters. This means that the difference is only one to two centimeters. Trends over the last few decades show that the average height of Indian women has increased faster than that of Pakistani women.

Role of nutrition and diet

Nutrition plays a big role in determining height during childhood and adolescence. In India, economic growth, urbanization and government programs such as mid-day meals, ICDS and maternal nutrition schemes have improved calorie and protein intake for girls. A balanced diet consisting of milk, pulses, fruits and fortified foods is more easily available.

If we talk about Pakistan, poverty, food insecurity and gender-based nutritional neglect in some areas means that girls often get less food than boys. Chronic malnutrition during the growing years directly limits height potential.

Healthcare and childhood diseases

Childhood health has a great impact on height. India has expanded vaccination coverage, sanitation and access to primary health care. With fewer infections in early life, the body knows how to use energy for growth instead of fighting disease.

Limited health care, high rates of anemia and other diseases, and poor sanitation in rural areas in Pakistan reduce development outcomes. Frequent illness in childhood is one of the most common causes of short height.

effect of early marriage

Child marriage is still more common in Pakistan. This happens more in rural and conservative areas. When girls get married and become mothers before their bodies are fully developed, their own development stops prematurely. India has also had to grapple with this problem. But due to strict laws, increasing education of girls and migration to cities, the rate of early marriage has decreased significantly in many states.
