The future of Asia Cup 2025 was still hanging in the balance, but now the Government of India has made its stand clear on playing a cricket match with Pakistan. The Asia Cup is not an ICC tournament but it comes under the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). After the Pahalgam terror attack and operation vermilion, the relations between India and Pakistan reached a much worse condition. Meanwhile, there was speculation about the Asia Cup that India vs Pakistan could fall on the match.
When the question of India vs Pakistan match in the Asia Cup, the statement came from BCCI whether Team India will play a match against Pakistan or not, it will have to get approval from the Government of India. In Parliament, India’s Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandavia made it clear that India will continue to play with Pakistan in international level tournaments. It was also told that the National Sports Administration Bill will be proposed soon.
Mansukh Mandavia said, “Our attitude is clear. Whether it is cricket, hockey or any other game, we have no problem playing with Pakistan in the international level tournaments. But as far as bilateral chains are concerned, I think the government knows the attitude on this.”
According to the news, the Asia Cup 2025 tournament was to be played between 8 teams first, but only 6 teams can be seen playing in it. Oman and Hong Kong qualified for the Asia Cup, but Oman and Hong Kong may not play this tournament due to the tournament’s schedule and logistics problems. According to reports, the Asia Cup 2025 is to begin on September 5 and its finals will be played on 21 September.
