Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), a party of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is jailed, will not attend the government meeting which has been called in view of tension with India. On Sunday (May 4, 2025), PTI announced that it will not attend the major government meeting to be held on tension between Pakistan and India.
PTI said, “Since, this is just a government meeting and there is no serious effort to create a national consensus through it, nor is there any intention to include an important national leader like Imran Khan, so we believe that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s participation in this meeting is not necessary.” However, the party said that PTI strongly condemns all forms of terrorism and recognizes the importance of national unity, but in the political circumstances she cannot participate in the meeting.
PTI said that Imran Khan has clearly condemned terrorism from jail in his message to the nation, but has also emphasized the need for national unity, solidarity and internal stability. The party said, “His (Imran’s) stance is very clear and the insight and courage with which he has given the message of unity to the country is a reflection of the thinking of a national leader.”
PTI demanded the government to call an all -party meeting (APC) immediately to take collective decisions at this important time. PTI said, ‘Unfortunately the government lost this opportunity. APC was not called, instead a minister of the government is giving unilateral information. The party also said that it is a clear attitude that in the event of any external attack, it will stand at the forefront to protect the country and the nation.
Earlier, the government media had reported that in the meeting, Information Minister Ataullah Tarar and Army Spokesperson Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif will give information to all political parties leaders in the context of the current situation of national security and the ongoing tension between Pakistan and India. After the terrorist attack on April 22 in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, relations between India and Pakistan have come to an end. 26 innocent and innocent people were brutally murdered in this attack, most of whom were tourists. This was the deadliest attack in the Kashmir Valley after the 2019 Pulwama attack.
