Republic Day 2026: Pakistan-India Business Council (PIBC), while wishing both the countries on the occasion of India’s 77th Republic Day, has appealed to resume talks without any delay to resolve the pending issues. PIBC Chairman Noor Mohammad Kasuri praised India’s remarkable progress in infrastructure, technology and industrial development and said that India can soon become the third largest economy in the world.

On the other hand, Indian Consul General in Shanghai Prateek Mathur in collaboration with the ‘Historical Society of China’ organized a special program to highlight India’s historical contribution ahead of the 77th Republic Day. The event was attended by NRIs, local community and diplomatic and consular members.

During the event, the importance of the historic Gurudwara, built in 1908, located on the Shanghai waterfront, where the Sikh community provided space to the Azad Hind Fauj during World War II and which was visited by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in 1944, was discussed. Historians from the Historical Society of China informed the participants about the ancient maritime relations between India and China and the historical role of the Indian community in Shanghai.

Addressing the nation on the eve of the 77th Republic Day, President Draupadi Murmu said that amidst increasing global geopolitical tensions, India is playing an important role in spreading the message of peace in the world, which is very important for the future of humanity. Describing India as a “messenger” of peace, he underlined the country’s ancient civilizational tradition and commitment to universal harmony. In his address, the President also threw light on topics like ‘Operation Sindoor’, women empowerment, Vande Mataram and India’s strengthening economy and said that in the Indian tradition, the wish for peace in the entire creation has been expressed for centuries.
