What is Digipin?
DIGIPIN (Digital Postal Index Number) An Open-SOS, Interopeable and Jio-Coded Digital addressing system It is, which the postal department has developed with IIT Hyderabad and ISRO’s NRSC. This turns the address into an accurate digital identity.
Difference between Digipin and traditional pin code
Traditional PIN codes cover a large area, which causes difficulty in identifying the accurate location. At the same time, Digipin offers each location a special 10-conductive alphanumeric code, which reflects an area of about 4 m x 4 meters. It ensures high -level Aquarius, which proves to be helpful for navigation, delivery and emergency services.
How to know your Digipin?
The postal department has launched two digital platforms named ‘Know Your Digipin’ and ‘Know You Pincode’. Through these platforms, you can get DIGIPIN based on your precise location. For this, users have to enter latitude and longitude of their location, based on which the concerned DIGIPIN will be given.

The objective of this initiative is to provide easy addressing solution for the smooth delivery of public and private service and the convenience of ‘AAAS’ (AAAS) across the country. This system is especially useful for areas where postal addresses are not streamlined or change.
