India Remittance Report: Every year billions of rupees come from abroad in India. Most of it is the money that Indians living abroad send their families. The March 2025 bulletin report of RBI has revealed how much foreign remedies in the country have come to India in 2023-24. Apart from this, it has also been told in this report that in which state foreign money has been sent from abroad.

How much money was sent to India from abroad?

According to the RBI March Bulletin 2025 report, in the year 2023-24, $ 118.7 billion came to India. The highest amount of money has come from America, which is 27.7 percent of the total remedies. Whereas, talking about Muslim countries, 38 percent of the total money of $ 118.7 billion has come from the Gulf Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain. This money will be around 3,896.3 billion in Indian rupees.

Which state did the most money

In this report of RBI, it has been told that in 2023-24, the maximum money from abroad has been sent to BJP-ruled state of Maharashtra. The total remedies in Maharashtra have 20.5 percent. Whereas, Kerala is second in this list. 19.7 percent of the money has come in Kerala. This is followed by Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. In these states, 10.4, 8.1, 7.7 and 4.4 percent money has come from abroad. The biggest thing is that Maharashtra remains above this list from 2020.

Where does the most money come from Muslim countries?

When you talk about Gulf countries, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain, from where India has 38 per cent of the total remedies, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the top of this list. Overseas Indians living in UAE send more money than migrants living in other Gulf countries.

According to the RBI report, the UAE stake in the total remedies sent to India in 2020-21 was about 18 per cent, which increased to 19.2 per cent in 2023-24. Actually, UAE is the largest center of Indian migrant workers. Apart from this, most of the migrants work here in the industry, healthcare, hospitality and tourism sectors. At the same time, Indian migrants in UAE get a little more money on an average than other Gulf countries.
