Team India: The Indian team is consistently performing strongly in the Asia Cup and is considered to be a strong contender for the title. However, in the meantime, a disappointing news has come out about Team India’s star wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant. His wait for his return to the Indian team has become longer. After being out of the Asia Cup 2025, now it has been reported that Pant will not be part of the team in the Test series against West Indies.
Why Pant is out?
Actually, Pant has not yet recovered from his leg injury. During the fourth Test on the England tour, Chris Woakes fractured his leg due to the thrown ball. For this reason, he could not play the Asia Cup. Now, according to reports by ESPN-Cricinfo, Pant has also been out of the selection race for the West Indies Test series starting on October 2.
Ajit Agarkar -led Selection Committee will announce the Indian team for the West Indies series on 24 September, but before that there are indications that Pant will not be included in the team. Actually, BCCI’s medical team has not yet given him a green signal of fitness.
Practice also not started
Pant is currently getting rehabilitation done due to his injury at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Reports say that they have not started batting and wicketkeeping practice till now. In such a situation, their preparation for the Test series will remain incomplete.
Australia tour staned
Now the biggest question is, when will Rishabh Pant return to Team India? After the West Indies series, India has to visit Australia, where ODI and T20 matches will be played. It is expected that Pant gets fitness clearance before the tour of Australia. If this happens, then he can become a chance to return to his team India.
How important Pant is for the team
27-year-old Rishabh Pant is not only the vice-captains of the Indian Test team, but both his batting and keeping are considered very important for the team. In his absence, the team management may have to see options like KL Rahul and Sanju Samson for wicketkeeping.
