A BCCI source quoted the Telegraph said that if the Indian team had been playing a home series, Iyer would have got a place in the team, but they might not get a place in Team India on a foreign tour.

The same source said that inside BCCI, it is believed that Shreyas Iyer still needs to do a little more work on his red ball game. Iyer is performing brilliantly in white ball matches, he was also the highest run -scorer for India in the Champions Trophy 2025.
It was also told that the short ball is not the only problem, but in England, swing and movement will also be seen in the ball, so that the art of leaving the ball empty should come. The source said that it is very important to leave the ball in England.
According to this report, another BCCI official said, “Shreyas Iyer plays naturally aggressive cricket and tries to score runs quickly. So it may be difficult for him to decide between the ball hitting and not.” This can be a main reason behind Shreyas not getting a place in the squad.
