Pakistan airspace: India has taken some strict steps regarding the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, so Pakistan has also retaliated on it. One of these is Pakistan’s closing its aircraft for Indian airlines. That is, Indian aircraft will not be able to fly over Pakistan and go to another country.
Aircraft have to take support of alternative route
However, due to this decision of Pakistan, Indian airlines have to bear an additional expenditure of about Rs 77 crore a week to operate their flights. Due to the closure of Pakistan’s air space, aircraft have to resort to an alternative route for the journey of many countries. Due to this, there is more expenditure on fuel and time is also taking more time. On the basis of the number of international flights from North India and the increased deadline, the news agency PTI said that the operational cost can sit more than Rs 307 crore in the month.
The journey is taking so many hours
Citing a senior airline executive, PTI said in its report, “International flights are now taking an extra time of 1.5 hours to go to North America. In such a situation, every flight can increase the cost of up to Rs 29 lakh due to untouched technical halt. This includes fuel, landing and parking charges.
European routes are also taking an extra time of 1.5 hours, which can increase the cost of up to Rs 22.5 lakh per flight. While the flights going to the middle East are delayed by 45 minutes, due to which an extra operation of about Rs 5 lakh per flight is sitting.
More than 6000 international flights
Data from Aviation Analytics firm Syrium shows that Indian aviation companies operate more than 6,000 international flights on the monthly basis. Of these, about 800 weeks of flights start from North Indian cities like Delhi and go to North America, Europe, Britain and Middle East.
Of these, about 1900 flights of the month are operated using Naro Body Aircraft (A320s, A321S, B737s) for the Middle East. According to PTI estimates, an extra cost of Rs 90 crore is sitting alone every month. For Europe and North America, wide body aircraft can cost the remaining 217 crores on long distance journey.
