India Suspends all Pakistani Visa: India announced the cancellation of all visas issued to Pakistani citizens from 27 April on Thursday (24 April 2025) and advised Indian citizens living in Pakistan to return home as soon as possible. India took this step amidst the increasing tension between the two countries over the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir. 26 people were killed in this attack. The Ministry of External Affairs also clarified that the decision to cancel the visa would not apply to Hindu Pakistani citizens to long -term visas and their visas will be ‘valid’. New Delhi also announced the suspension of visa services for Pakistani citizens with immediate effect for Pakistani citizens as part of retaliation on the crossroads of the most heinous terrorist attack on citizens in India after the terrorist attack in Mumbai on 26 November 2008.
This new step has been taken a day after India’s announcement of several steps against Pakistan, which includes expel to Pakistani military Atashe, postponing the Indus Water Treaty of 1960 and immediate closure of the attic land-trading outpost. It was decided to take strict measures against Pakistan in a meeting of the Cabinet Committee (CCS) on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
