A strict decision of the Modi government has slipped the ground under the feet of a large aviation company of Turkas. The government has canceled the security approval of Celebi Airport Services India, a Turki company providing ground handling service in India, with immediate effect in view of national security. After this move, the company’s shares fell by 10 percent in the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
Why action was taken?
The decision came when the Turki supported Pakistan and criticized the anti-terraler stripes made by India in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) under Operation Sindoor. Not only this, Turki drones were also used in the military conflicts of Pakistan and India. All these incidents alerted the Government of India. Demand for action against CELEBI from all over the country began to arise and finally the government took a big step.
15 year old relationship is over
CELEBI was serving at 9 major airports in India for the last 15 years, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kochi, Ahmedabad, Kannur and Goa. But now this relationship is over. BCAS has banned the activities of the company by canceling the security approval given in November 2022.
Delhi Airport also broke ties
Following the BCAS order, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has also abolished all its relations with Celebi. Now the responsibility of ground handling and cargo services at the airport has been entrusted to companies like AISATS and Bird Group so that the passengers do not have any inconvenience.
Sharp decline in stock market
The direct impact of this action of India was seen on the stock market of Istanbul. Celebi Hava Servisi AS shares fell 222 points (10 percent) on May 16 to 2002. In the last four trading sessions, the company’s shares have fallen by about 30 percent. This stock, which once touched the high level of 3285, has now reached close to the low of 1660.
Company gave cleaning
Celebi India denied the allegations, saying, “We are not associated with the Turkas government in any way. We are a professional, transparent and neutral company that has nothing to do with any political agenda.” But there are discussions that Sumeya Erdogan Bayarkatar, daughter of Turki President Erdogan, is one of the owners of the company. However, the company has also denied this.
Government said, national interest paramount
Union Minister of State (MOS) Civil Aviation Muralidhar Mohol said on social media, “Many parts of the country were demanding action on this company. We took this issue seriously and security approval has been canceled keeping in mind the national interest.”
India’s message is clear
This entire development has given a strong message to the world that if you are doing business in India, then you will have to respect the interests of India. No matter how old a company is, nothing is ahead of national security.
