Where is Prahar being made?

Prahar LMG is being manufactured at the Small Arms Facility of Adani Defense and Aerospace located in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. Which is considered to be the country’s first fully integrated private sector unit. This initiative is expected to help in reducing dependence on weapons from foreign countries and increasing self-reliance.

Spread over about 100 acres, this unit has almost all the modern facilities related to arms manufacturing. From manufacturing of barrel, bolt carrier and receiver to advanced CNC machining, robotics, surface treatment and precise measurement, there is provision here. Apart from this, facilities like metallurgy lab and 25 meter long underground firing range are also available. Which makes it a modern manufacturing unit.

Prahar LMG equipped with modern features

Talking about the design of ‘Prahar’ light machine gun, it works on open bolt system and it has been given technologies like gas piston and rotating bolt locking. It has the facility of firing in all three modes: safe, semi-automatic and fully automatic. Besides, a gas regulator has also been provided to work better in different conditions.

It is fed through a 120-round assault drum or belt chain. Apart from this, it also has features like strong bipod, easy opening and maintenance, adjustable butt stock and cheek rest. In terms of safety, it has also been provided with additional safety features and backup iron sights, which make it more useful.
