Nepal Army has received a big gift from the Indian Army after restoring peace and establishing political stability in the neighboring country Nepal after the Gen-Ji movement. Indian Army has handed over 50 military vehicles to Nepal Army. After the United Nations Peacekeeping Force, this is the first consignment of big military vehicles that the Indian Army has handed over to the army of any other country.
Indian Army has handed over these military utility vehicles to the Nepali Army on the Nepal border. Soon these vehicles will be formally presented to the Nepalese Army during a ceremony in Kathmandu on behalf of the Indian High Commissioner to Nepal.

Sharing the video of the handover ceremony of these vehicles, the Indian Army said that this initiative reflects the strong commitment of the Indian Army to enhance the capacity-building efforts of the Nepalese Army and underlines the enduring bond of friendship, trust and close cooperation shared between the two armies. This step of the Indian Army is being considered very important towards strengthening military and diplomatic relations under the Neighbor-First policy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

There have been historical relations between the Indian Army and Nepal Army. The army chiefs of both the countries are also the honorary chiefs of each other’s army. Even Gorkha citizens of Nepali origin are part of the Indian Army. Nepal has opposed the Agneepath Scheme (Agniveer) implemented in the Indian Army in the year 2021. In such a situation, Nepal has banned the recruitment of its citizens in the Indian Army. Apart from this, a dispute had also arisen over the inclusion of the disputed Kala Pani at the tri-junction of India and China and Lipulekh (Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand) in the map of the country by the previous Nepalese government.
Last year, the way the Nepal Army handled the situation in the country after the Gen-Ji movement against the KP Sharma Oli government of Nepal was appreciated all over the world. In such a situation, the Indian Army has once again tried to bring relations with Nepal back on track through military diplomacy.

However, last year also the Indian Army had gifted several military equipment including 6 light military vehicles to Nepal Army. Apart from the vehicles, two military dogs, six (06) horses and a consignment of medical supplies were also handed over. Under a program organized at the headquarters of the Nepali Army, the consignment of Vikram Misri military vehicles was handed over to the Nepali Army.
