Musk’s reaction came after the death of a 44-year-old man of Indian origin in Canada, who reportedly had to wait for treatment for more than eight hours in the waiting area of the hospital.

The name of the Indian origin person who died in a Canadian hospital was Prashant Srikumar. Prashant died of a suspected heart attack at the Gray Nuns Community Hospital in Edmonton, Canada. His family told that despite complaining of severe chest pain, he was kept sitting in the waiting area of the hospital. Regarding this attitude of the hospital, Prashant’s wife shared a video on the social media platform, which quickly went viral. In this video, Prashant’s wife alleged that the hospital staff completely ignored her husband’s critical condition.

Responding to this matter, Elon Musk shared a post on social media platform X and said, ‘When the government handles medical care, its condition becomes like the American DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles).’ He compared Canada’s health care system to the US Department of Motor Vehicles, which is often criticized for its inefficiency.
The family told what was the whole matter
Prashant Sreekumar’s family said that he was taken to Gray Nuns Community Hospital at around 12.15 pm on Monday last week (December 22, 2025). He remained in the triage area from about 12.20 am to 8.50 pm and during this time he complained of constant chest pain and his blood pressure had reached 210, but he was given only Tylenol. The hospital staff reportedly did not take the complaints seriously, saying that the chest pain was not acute and there was no possibility of a cardiac emergency.
