Every day millions of people travel by train in India. Whether it is marriage, going to visit or traveling from work, the train is the most reliable and cheap journey. It happens that when we plan to travel with family or friends, we book 4-5 people tickets at once. But, due to excessive crowd, not all tickets are confirmed, in such a situation, you booked the tickets of 6 people simultaneously and only 3 people were confirmed and remained in the remaining 3 waiting, so the biggest question comes, can passengers with waiting list come? Will TTE take them off? Or will you be fined? So let us know what are the rules of the railway and 6 online tickets, how can we travel from the train.
What are the rules of railway?
When you take a ticket of many people in the same booking, a PNR (Passenger Name Record) number is generated. This number is a record of complete information about your ticket. Like which people are traveling, which train, seat number, station etc. Tickets of maximum 6 people can be booked on a PNR. Now some of these passengers can be confirmed tickets, and some can stay in the waiting list of some. Earlier, if some tickets were confirmed on the same PNR and some lived in the waiting list, then all the passengers could board the train. Even though waiting passengers did not get seats, they could travel in the train. TTE did not take them off.
Now the Railways has made it clear that the passenger whose ticket is confirmed, can travel in the train. The passenger with theweight list can no longer travel in Sleeper or AC coach. Even after the Gar Chart is built, your ticket is in waiting, so you cannot even climb in that coach. If you do this, TTE can take you off the train, and action can also be taken to fine or jail.
6 How can you travel if only 3 are confirmed in online tickets?
The 3 passengers whose tickets are confirmed, they can travel comfortably, whose ticket charts are still in waiting, they cannot travel in Sleeper or AC coach. If the ticket of waiting list turns into RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation), then you can board the train, but you have to share your seat i.e. two people will travel on a berth. Apart from this, if your ticket is left in waiting and is not confirmed, then you buy general tickets from the station or book general tickets from the UTS app, if you climb in the coach without a ticket or waiting ticket, action can be taken against you.
What does IRCTC do about waiting tickets?
If you have booked the ticket online and it is not confirmed (remained in waiting even after the chart was made), then the IRCTC auto-cakes that ticket and returns your money. So you do not need to cancel the ticket. If someone’s journey in the train is canceled and the seat is vacant, then TTE can give a seat to a waiting list.
