India and Canada have made a plan for mutual cooperation on national security, law enforcement issues. Also, officers will be appointed to deal with drug smuggling and international criminal networks. On Saturday (February 7), a meeting was held between India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Canada’s Natalie Drouin in Ottawa, the capital of Canada, in which an agreement was reached between the two countries on these issues.

Both countries have acknowledged the progress made in the initiatives taken to protect their citizens, and have also agreed to work on a common plan to cooperate with each other on issues related to national security and law enforcement.
The Ministry of External Affairs also said that both the countries have also agreed that the respective agencies of India and Canada will further strengthen the working relationship, apart from this, liaison officers will be appointed to improve relations and resolve issues related to security and law enforcement. This important step will help in timely sharing of information between the two countries on issues like illegal drug trafficking, international crime network.
