Nepal and Oman have also booked tickets for the 2026 T20 World Cup. Now a total of 19 teams have qualified for next year’s World Cup and only one slot is left vacant. Nepal is currently at the first position in the points table after winning all four matches so far in the Super-6 stage of the World Cup East Asia Pacific Qualifier. On the other hand, Oman is also included in the top-2 of the table, it has also qualified for the World Cup.
Nepal and Oman were already in the top-2 of the table, but UAE’s 77-run win over Samoa on Wednesday benefited Nepal and Oman, which has confirmed their place in the World Cup tournament. The third team will also emerge from this qualifier tournament, but it has not been confirmed yet. Currently UAE is at number-3 in the table, but its place in T20 World Cup 2026 is not confirmed yet.
Oman’s team had played in the last i.e. 2024 T20 World Cup. This will be the third time that Oman will be playing the T20 World Cup, before this it had played the 2016 and 2024 World Cups. On the other hand, Nepal has also made it to the T20 World Cup for the third time. Unfortunately, both Nepal and Oman could not progress beyond the first round in the 2024 World Cup.
When will the 2026 T20 World Cup be played?
A total of 20 teams will be participating in the 2026 T20 World Cup, which will start from February 7 and continue till March 8. India and Sri Lanka will be hosting the World Cup together. Like the 2024 World Cup, teams will go through the group stage to reach the Super-8 stage, after which the knockout stage will begin.
