On the cancellation of IndiGo flights, aviation expert Subhash Goyal said, ‘To make air travel safe, pilots were demanding more rest hours in line with international rules. Therefore, after the court order, DGCA issued new rules. All airlines were instructed more than a year ago to recruit more pilots and staff and prepare for the new rules. All airlines like Akasa, SpiceJet, Air India and Air India Express followed this. However, IndiGo not only flouted the rules but also expanded its international route network and increased domestic flights without increasing the number of crew and pilots. As a result, when the government wanted to enforce the policy deadline, IndiGo stopped most of its flights instead of reducing some of its flights. This caused complete anarchy.
