Indigo flight turbulence case: An Indigo flight going from New Delhi to Srinagar was hit by a fierce turbulance due to hail on May 21, 2025. Now there has been a new twist in this matter. According to sources, Indigo’s 6 E-2142 flight from Delhi to Srinagar flight was exposed to the weather close to Pathankot. During this time, the pilot sought permission to flight from the International Border (IB) AB), adjacent to Pakistan from the Northern Area Control Center (Northern Control) of the Indian Air Force at Udhampur.
During Operation Sindoor, Pakistan has declared its entire air-space as a no-flying zone for all types of aircraft (both, civil and military) in India. Due to the ongoing military confrontation from Pakistan, flying very close to the international border was also not empty of danger.
Air Force refuses to divert flights
In such a situation, the Air Force refused to divert the flight of Indigo’s driver-dal to the left side. After IB refuses to fly in airspace, the pilot demanded Delhi -based flight information clearance (FIC) to contact Lahore ATC. The FIC contacted Lahore Air Traffic Control (ATC). The Lahore ATC flatly refused the Indian aircraft to use its air-space. This is the reason that the pilot of Indigo Plane, the aircraft, along with the passengers, took Srinagar in bad weather.
Indian Air Force angry with Indigo Pilot
According to Air Force sources, the Indian Air Force had helped the pilot in making safe landing in Srinagar, as the aircraft’s avionics had deteriorated. The Indian Air Force is angry with the pilot of Indigo aircraft seeking permission to use Lahore aircraft due to bad weather. The Air Force believes that during the bad weather, there was an option to make landing at Amritsar Airport near Pilot-Mal, but it was not done.
Despite the onam (notice to airman) released for Indian aircraft in Pakistan, the pilot had sought permission to flight in the Lahore Air-space, which was categorically refused by the ATC of Pakistan. During a flight from Delhi to Srinagar on Wednesday, IndiGo aircraft was damaged due to bad weather.
