There was an atmosphere of chaos in Indore city of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday (26 February) at around 10 pm due to leakage of poisonous gas in Raoji Bazar area. People present in the houses and those walking on the road suddenly started having trouble breathing, many people also started vomiting. The entire neighborhood came out of their houses.
Information has come to light about gas leaking from a cylinder in a junk shop here. According to the information, while cutting a cylinder brought to a junk shop in Raoji Bazar area of Indore at night, poisonous gas started leaking from it.
Chaos due to poisonous gas leaking
There was chaos due to the spread of poisonous gas in the area. People also started vomiting due to gas entering the lungs through breath. The entire neighborhood got scared and came out of their homes. The environment of the area became very bad. Every person was seen with a handkerchief or cloth tied over his mouth.
Leakage from gas cylinder in junk shop
According to preliminary information received, the cylinder was being cut at a junkyard in the area. It was filled with gas, from which the gas leaked rapidly and spread in the area. The police have taken the scrap metal into custody, while the cylinder has been removed from the spot with the help of fire brigade.
Additional DCP gave this information
Additional DCP Dishesh Aggarwal said that preliminary investigation has revealed that a scrap dealer was cutting the cylinder when gas started coming out from it. Police has taken action against a scrap dealer named Shehzad. Besides, it is also being investigated as to who had sold the cylinder to him. At present there has been no loss of life in this incident.
After this incident, Additional Police Commissioner Amit Singh reached the spot and took stock of the situation. After this incident, the administration has increased surveillance of the area and has said that the situation is under control.
DCP reached the spot
According to DCP Anand Kaladagi, who reached the spot, this incident took place under Katkatpura bridge of Raoji Bazaar, where a scrap cylinder named Shahzad was working. Meanwhile, ammonia gas suddenly started leaking from the cylinder. As the gas spread, people present nearby started feeling nervous and having difficulty breathing. Water was immediately sprayed so that the effect of the gas could be reduced.
No person has been seriously affected in this incident. About four to five people have been sent to the hospital for treatment, all are safe. The accused scrap dealer is being taken into custody and interrogated as to from where and from whom he had brought the cylinder.
What did the fireman tell about the incident?
Fire worker Sudhir Baria said that as soon as the information about gas leakage was received, the fire brigade also reached the spot and tried to close the valve of the cylinder, then water cannon was used which brought it under control. Due to the effect of gas, the health of the firemen also deteriorated and they started having trouble breathing.
