Nowadays many people adopt intermittent fasting for weight loss. This is considered an easy way, but a recent study has claimed shocking. According to research, intermittent fasting can cause damage to heart health and the risk of death from cardiovascular disease (heart disease) can increase by 135 percent.

Famous diabetologist Dr. Anup Mishra says that many people believe that fasting reduces weight easily, but it is not correct from the perspective of nutrition. Not eating food for a long time does not provide the necessary nutrition to the body and it can have negative effects on the body.

What is intermittent fasting?

Intermittent fasting is a way of weight loss in which people do not eat for a certain time and eat in just a few hours window. For example, 16 hours of fast and 8 -hour eating period. In this, attention is not given on calories but at the time of food.

Dr. Mishra says that it is not right to adopt intermittent fasting without thinking.

  • It can be dangerous for people who have diseases like heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, diabetes.
  • Patients who are taking many medicines, may have a problem of low sugar during fasting.

Therefore, the advice of a doctor is necessary before adopting it.

She shared a case in which a 58-year-old woman, who weighed 98 kg and was typed-2 diabetes for 15 years, started fasting. His blood sugar level would sometimes go very low, sometimes it would go very high. Constant unbalanced sugar level caused further damage to his body.

The right way to lose weight

According to experts, the best way to lose weight.

  • Low-calorie diet i.e. low oil-spices balanced diet.
  • Time food and breakfast, lunch and dinner at the right time.
  • Making away from junk food and sweet drinks.
  • Pay attention to exercise and regular physical activity.

Dr. Mishra says that eating low-calorie diet and time, is more beneficial and safe than intermittent fasting. This provides all the necessary nutrients to the body and there is no bad effect on heart health. Eminent fasting is not right for everyone. This can be dangerous especially for patients associated with heart, diabetes and kidney. It is better to take a doctor’s advice for weight loss, adopt balanced and low-calorie diet and eat on time. This method is helpful in maintaining health for a long time.
