In fact, here pregnant women and patients undergoing surgery are facing serious problems due to iodine solution. Let us tell you that this solution, which is applied to clean the skin before the operation, is causing irritation, redness and blisters on the skin of the patients. This matter has created a stir in the entire area. The medical college management has stopped the supply of this solution, but the question is, how did such a huge negligence happen?
Patients are facing serious problems
Shahdol Medical College has been receiving complaints for the past two months that after applying iodine solution, patients are experiencing burning sensation, redness and blisters on their skin. Especially pregnant women are facing a lot of problems with this solution. Deep wounds have formed on the skin of many patients, which are not healing quickly. Due to this, the risk of infection in patients has also increased.
The dean of the medical college said this
Let us tell you that Shahdol district is a tribal dominated area, patients from far away places come for treatment in Birsa Munda Medical College. However, patients are losing confidence in iodine solution. Dean of the Medical College, Dr. Girish B. Ramtek admitted that some patients have faced problems with this solution. Such patients are being shown to skin experts and their condition gets better in two-three days.
Patients expressed their pain like this
Dheeraj Sen, husband of pregnant Khushboo Sen, who came from Janakpur, Chhattisgarh, told that iodine solution was applied to his wife during delivery. After a few hours, Khushboo’s skin started getting irritated and blisters appeared on her back. Dheeraj said that my wife is in a lot of pain. The solution which was supposed to provide a cure has got us into more trouble. Family members of many other patients like Dheeraj have also made the same complaint.
Question on supply of solution
According to the information, this iodine solution was supplied from Samchem Company of Indore. The batch which was causing problems to the patients has now been removed. The medical college has arranged for a new solution, but the question is why this batch was not tested earlier? Despite the patients facing such serious problems, why did the management not take the matter seriously for two months?
