IPL 2025 Playoff Rules: IPL 2025 is at a thrilling turn. From Delhi Capitals to Punjab Kings, there is a tough fight between all teams. But talking about this season, only a few teams have been able to perform well. Teams with top performance will make it to the playoffs. But there are some rules for this. Along with points, net run rate can also prove to be game changing.
If you look at the current position of the points table, then the teams of Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans are at the top. These teams are also contestants of playoffs. But the victory of Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders can spoil everyone’s mathematics.
Delhi has played 6 matches so far this season and won 5. He has 10 points. Punjab Kings have played 7 matches and won 5. He also has 10 points. Gujarat has won 4 out of 6. He has 8 points. RCB has won 4 out of 7. He also has 8 points. Lucknow also has 8 points. He has played 7 matches and won 4.
Rules for playoff qualification –
Need for points –
- The team that regulates 16 points or 8 wins almost always reaches the playoffs.
- It is possible to qualify with 14 points or 7 wins. But in such a situation, the net run rate also becomes important.
- If the NRR is strong then it can be qualified with 14 points.
- Qualification with 12 points is difficult and this requires the results and better net run rates of other teams.
Playoff Structure:
- Top 2 teams will play qualifiers 1 (May 20, Hyderabad). The winning team here will directly reach the final.
- Teams from third and fourth place will play Eliminator (May 21, Hyderabad).
- Qualifier 1 will play losing and eliminator’s winner team Qualifier 2 (May 23, Kolkata).
- The final will be held on 25 May at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
