Ever since Mustafizur Rahman has been expelled from IPL, the cricket boards of India and Bangladesh have come face to face. Earlier Bangladesh had threatened not to come to India to play T20 World Cup 2026 and now it is preparing to ban the telecast of Indian Premier League in its country. Actually, the rights to broadcast IPL in Bangladesh till the year 2027 are with a company called T Sports.
Bangladesh’s Justice, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Advisor Asif Nazrul is continuously spewing venom against India. Now he has said through a Facebook post that the telecast of IPL in Bangladesh should be completely banned.
Asif Nazrul has urged the Information and Broadcasting Ministry of Bangladesh to ban the telecast of IPL matches in response to BCCI expelling Mustafizur from the Indian Premier League. However, no official statement from Bangladesh Cricket has come out on this.
According to the schedule of T20 World Cup 2026, Bangladesh has been placed in Group C, in which England, Italy, Nepal and West Indies are also present. Bangladesh will play its first match with West Indies on 7 February. Bangladesh has to play its World Cup matches in Kolkata and Mumbai. Since Bangladesh’s stance of not going to India for the T20 World Cup has come to the fore. In such a situation, it will also be interesting to see whether Bangladesh’s matches will be held in India or any changes will be made regarding the venue.
After the auction held in December, the IPL squad of all 10 teams is ready. Mustafizur Rahman was bought by KKR for Rs 9.2 crore, but as per the instructions of BCCI, Kolkata Knight Riders team has released him from their squad.
