Iran US Tension: Relations between Iran and the United States remain at high tensions amid mass protests in Iran, rising deaths and exchanges of threats between Tehran and Washington. Countries around Iran where US military bases are located
There are major American military bases or air bases in at least 6 countries around Iran. Most of these bases are across the Persian Gulf.

The most important American base in this region is in Qatar. Al Udeid Air Base is the largest US military facility in the Middle East. About 10,000 American soldiers are stationed here and it also serves as the forward headquarters of the US Central Command. From Al Udeid, America coordinates air operations throughout West Asia.
bahrain
The US Navy has its fifth fleet in Bahrain. Its head quarter Naval Support Activity is in Bahrain. This base plays a big role in monitoring the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz and surrounding sea routes.
Kuwait
Kuwait has big facilities like Camp Arifjan and Ali Al Salem Airbase. It serves as a logistics hub, troop deployment center and air transport base for US forces operating in the region.

The United Arab Emirates allows US forces to reach Al-Dhafra Air Base. Advanced fighter aircraft and surveillance drones are deployed here. In addition, Jebel Ali port often hosts American aircraft carriers and warships.
Iraq
Iraq hosts US military personnel at bases such as Ain al-Asad Air Base in western Iraq and Erbil Air Base in the Kurdish region. It is used for anti-terrorism operations, intelligence sharing and training.
saudi arabia
Saudi Arabia also hosts US forces at places like Prince Sultan Air Base. Missile defense system and American soldiers are deployed here. However, American attendance is quieter than in previous years.
Will America have to take permission to attack from these bases?
America cannot legally attack these bases without the consent of the host country. These locations are not in America’s territory. Any aggressive military action will have to be approved by the host government. Most Gulf countries have publicly indicated to remain neutral in a possible US-Iran conflict until January 2026. Many of these countries have reportedly told Washington that their bases and airspace cannot be used to attack Iran.
