The process of admission in government schools for the new academic session 2026-27 has started in Delhi. Especially there is a lot of enthusiasm among the parents about CM Shri Schools, because along with education, better facilities are also available here. These schools run under the Delhi Education Department and are known for their modern system. But remember, if even the slightest mistake is made while filling the admission form, the application may get canceled. Therefore, it is very important to fill every information carefully.

How will admission be done for which class?

The admission process is divided into two parts. Applications for Nursery, KG and Class-1 will be through offline mode. Parents will have to collect the form from the school located near their home and submit it there within the stipulated time. Whereas applications for admission in classes 6, 9 and 11 will be completely online. For this, parents will have to apply by visiting the official website of the Education Department, Directorate of Education Delhi.

Applications for Nursery to Class-1 will be accepted from 02 March 2026 to 16 March 2026. The last date for online application for classes 6, 9 and 11 is 12 March 2026. The lucky draw will be conducted on 20 March 2026 and the list of selected students will be released on 23 March 2026. The entire admission process will be completed by 02 April 2026. Therefore, instead of waiting for the last day, it would be better to apply in time.

What is the age limit?
The age limit for admission has been fixed considering 31st March 2026. To enter nursery, the child’s age should be between 3 to 4 years. It is mandatory to be 4 to 5 years of age for KG and 5 to 6 years for Class-1. If the age is even one day less or more than the prescribed limit then the application will not be accepted. Therefore, take special care while filling the date of birth.

Must be a resident of Delhi

For admission in CM Shri Schools, it is necessary for the student to be a resident of Delhi. Ration card, Voter ID, Aadhar card, electricity or water bill will be accepted as proof of address. Parents living in a rented house will also have to provide a valid rent agreement. The address filled in the form and the address given in the documents should be the same.

According to government rules, 15 percent seats are reserved for SC category, 7.5 percent for ST category and 3 percent for disabled children. Some seats have also been reserved for the children of education department employees. If any disadvantaged or disabled student does not have the documents immediately available, then he can be given temporary admission, but it will be necessary to submit the papers within the stipulated time limit.

necessary documents
Birth certificate is the most important document at the time of admission. Apart from this, proof of being a resident of Delhi, recent passport size photograph of the child and caste or disability certificate, if applicable, is required. Students taking admission in classes 6, 9 and 11 will also have to submit the mark sheet and transfer certificate of the previous class. It will be mandatory to submit the vaccination card within six months after getting admission.

Avoid these 5 mistakes while filling the form

The first mistake is to miscalculate the age limit. Many times parents fill the form without properly checking the age, due to which the application may be rejected. Another big mistake is giving wrong or incomplete residence proof. If the Delhi address is not clear in the documents then the application may be rejected.
The third mistake is not to fill the school preference thoughtfully in the online application. Once the school is allotted, there will be no option to change it. The fourth mistake is uploading blurry or incomplete documents. It is necessary to upload a clear and clean scan copy. The fifth and most common mistake is to apply on the last day. At the last moment the website may become slow or there may be a technical problem, due to which the application may remain incomplete.
