In the second T20 of the series played in Raipur last Friday, Ishaan played a brilliant innings during the run chase and scored 76* runs in 32 balls with the help of 11 fours and 4 sixes. On the other hand, Sanju appeared flop in both the matches of the series. He scored 10 and 06 runs in both the matches respectively. This inning of Ishaan has changed the entire equation of the 2026 T20 World Cup and has raised questions on Sanju Samson’s place.
Will Sanju Samson warm the bench in T20 World Cup?
Let us tell you that both Sanju and Ishaan have been made a part of Team India for the T20 World Cup. Ishaan has landed at number three in the first two matches of the T20 series against New Zealand. Ishaan’s amazing batting in the second T20 has made him a contender for opening in place of Sanju.
With this form, Ishaan can open with Abhishek Sharma in the T20 World Cup. If Ishan comes to open, it may be difficult to make room for Sunj in the middle order. Ishaan is also a wicketkeeper, due to which he can be a perfect replacement for Sanju. In this situation, Sanju may have to warm the bench in the upcoming World Cup. Even in the last T20 World Cup of 2024, Sanju had only warmed the bench, that is, he was not made a part of the playing 11 in any match of the tournament.
