Alima Khan, sister of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, has described the country’s first Chief of Defense Staff Asim Munir as a radical Islamist and Islamic fundamentalist. He said that Asim Munir yearns for war with India, whereas his brother Imran Khan has always tried to improve relations with the neighboring country and make friends.
Alima Khan said these things on Sky News’ ‘World with Yalda Hakim’ show. He was asked what was the reason for the military conflict between India and Pakistan in May. On this, Alima targeted the Pak Army Chief and said, ‘Asim Munir is a radical Islamist and Islamic fundamentalist. This is the reason why he yearns for war with India. Their Islamic fundamentalist and conservative thinking instigates them to fight against those who are not associated with Islam.
Alima described brother Imran Khan as a liberal and said, ‘Whenever Imran Khan will come to power, you will see that he always tries to build friendly relations with India and even BJP. And when Islamic fundamentalist Asim Munir comes to power, you will see that he will go to war with India. Not only India but also its allied countries will suffer losses. He has appealed to the western countries to help them in getting Imran Khan released.
To avenge the Pahalgam terrorist attack of April 22, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 and destroyed the terrorist hideouts of terror groups present in Pakistan. After this, Pakistan also attacked military bases in different cities of India, but India foiled all its attempts. Between 7-9 May, military conflict was witnessed between the two countries and on 10 May both the countries agreed to a ceasefire.
Imran Khan is lodged in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail since August 2023. A few days ago, news of his death in jail also came to light. However, on December 2, his sister Uzma Khan met him and told that Imran Khan is physically healthy, but he is being tortured mentally. Imran Khan has made serious allegations against Asim Munir and said that he is being treated worse than animals in jail. He said that he is being kept in such conditions in which a convict is kept after being sentenced to death.
The dispute between Asim Munir and Imran Khan dates back to 2019. Then Imran Khan was the Prime Minister of Pakistan and Asim Munir was the ISI Chief. At that time, Asim Munir wanted to investigate against Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi in a corruption case, after which Imran Khan removed him from the post of ISI Chief within 8 months, while his tenure was for three years. Imran Khan has also termed Asim Munir’s allegations against Bushra Bibi as false.
