Un blame israel for attack: The United Nations said on Monday (March 24) that the attack on its buildings in Gaza last week took place due to “Israeli tank”, killing a Bulgarian employee and six others were seriously injured. However, the Israeli government has dismissed this claim and preliminary investigations have denied any relationship with the Israeli military activity.

According to United Nations Secretary -General Stephen Dujarik, the attack on the United Nations campus at Der al Balah was carried out with the help of Israeli tank on March 19. In this attack, a Bulgarian employee of United Nations Project Services was killed and six others were injured. The attack occurred when Israel resumed its intense bombing in the struggle against Hamas, which was the deadliest wave since the ceasefire in January. Dujarik said, “All the parties involved in this United Nations campus were well known.” He also said that this incident has raised serious questions on the security of the United Nations.

Israeli government denied
In this case, Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Oren Marmorastein issued a statement on X (East Twitter), in which he said that Israel has started investigating the incident, but the preliminary investigation did not find any kind of connection between Israeli military activities and the incident. The Israeli government has clearly rejected the claim that the attack was carried out by the Israeli tank.

Number of United Nations employees in Gaza low
Amid growing attacks and insecurity, the United Nations has taken a difficult decision to temporarily reduce its number of international employees in the Palestinian region. However, Stephen Dujarik insisted that “the United Nations is not leaving Gaza.” He said that General Secretary Antonio Guterres has reiterated his call for “Restoration of ceasefire to end the suffering”.

In this conflict between Israel and Hamas, innocent citizens as well as human rights organizations and international agencies have suffered serious damage.
