The matter came into limelight when tourists blamed Google Maps for the incident, while locals alleged that the driver was driving under the influence of alcohol.

How did the incident happen?

• Actually, this accident happened in an area of ​​Goa at around 2.30 in the night. According to reports, the tourist driving the car was a resident of Chandigarh and had taken this Maruti Gypsy on rent. The driver says that he had gone out for a walk with friends and he drove as per the direction shown on Google Maps. On the way he saw a ferry ramp, which looked like a road to him. Google Maps indicated “go straight”, and the driver turned in that direction, but did not realize that the path was going straight into the river. Within a few seconds the car fell into the river. However, everyone got out of the car in time and reached a safe place.

It can be clearly seen in the video that Maruti Gypsy is completely submerged in water and many local people and fire brigade personnel are trying to rescue it. Some on social media called it Google Maps’ mistake, while most people considered it to be the result of tourists’ carelessness and drunk driving.
