According to reports, Mahfooz Alam said that Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus has also confirmed the election on time. Elections are expected in December this year, the deadline has already been determined. He insisted that elections will be held on time, so all political parties should start their preparations.
Conditions to conduct election time
According to the report of Dhaka Tribune, Mahfooz Alam said that if political parties should act responsibly, avoid sabotage and all the organs of the state give proper support, then elections will be held on time. He said that Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus recently said that if political parties agree on low reforms, the government will hold elections in December. However, if extensive reforms are sought, elections can be postponed for a few months.
‘Fear of crisis on democracy’
Meanwhile, the National Citizen Party (NCP) alleged that preparations are being made to crush democracy before the general election in Bangladesh. The NCP clarified that it does not want the Aadastha Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s party Bangladesh Awami participate in the League election and lodged a protest against it. Significantly, last year, Sheikh Hasina was removed from power due to the student movement.
Tough stance against Awami League
NCP convenor Nahid Islam said that his party wants any member of Sheikh Hasina’s party participate in the upcoming election and take not participating in the upcoming election. He also demanded that those leaders of Awami League be prosecuted first, who have been responsible for wrongdoing in the past. Islam further said that their aim is to establish the second Republic in Bangladesh through the Constituent Assembly.
‘Bangladesh independent of foreign influence’
When Islam was asked about the party’s diplomatic policy, he said that Bangladesh should be freed from any foreign dominance and adopt an independent and balanced diplomatic approach. He admitted that Bangladesh was under influence of Delhi in the past, but now the NCP will ensure that the politics of Bangladesh does not move around India or Pakistan. He stressed that his party will be indigenously and fainted, giving priority to national interests.
