Former England captain Michael Attarton has given a stern warning to India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir, saying that if India loses the England series, his difficulties may increase.
The Indian team is trailing 1-2 in the five-Test series being played against England. India will have to win the fifth Test in ‘The Oval’ to avoid defeat in this series.
Talking on Sky Sports, former England captain Michael Attarton said, “The Indian team has lost two consecutive Test series. They lost 3–0 to New Zealand in their home, after which 1-3 lost to Australia. If India had to face defeat in England series, the pressure on Gautam Gambhir will increase as a coach.”
Michael Atherton said, “India, despite all its resources and population, there is no team with which people are patient. They are expected to win as soon as they step on the field. Therefore, losing three consecutive Test series will be a problem for them.”
Gautam Gambhir took command of the Indian cricket team as a coach after the T20 World Cup 2024. Gambhir’s performance has been good in T20 and ODI cricket. The Indian team also won the title of Champions Trophy 2025 after 12 years in their coaching, but, their term in Test has been simple so far. If India loses against England, BCCI can definitely reconsider their post in long format.
The Indian team has landed with four changes to win the ‘The Oval’ Test. Jasprit Bumrah is out of the team under the workload management because of Rishabh Pant Injari. At the same time, Shardul Thakur and Anshul Kamboj have been dropped from the playing XI. Karun Nair, Dhruv Jurael, famous Krishna and Akash Deep have returned to the team.
