‘It is from ancient times and will always be Islam …’, what about RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said about Indian Muslims?

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday (August 28, 2025) emphasized Hindu-Muslim unity and said that Islam will always have a place in India. He said that Hindus and Muslims are the same, their only worship method is different, so there should be no question about unity between them.

He strongly advocated to maintain mutual trust between Hindus and Muslims. Mohan Bhagwat attended an event organized on the centenary celebrations of the RSS, where he said this in response to a question. He said, ‘Hindus and Muslims are the same … so there is no question about unity between them; Only their worship method has changed. We are already one. Where did the united thing come from? What is revenge? Only the worship method has changed; Does it really make any difference? ‘

Mohan Bhagwat said, ‘Islam has been in India since ancient times and has been in place and will remain in future too. The idea that Islam will not remain, there is no Hindu philosophy. Both Hindus and Muslims need to have mutual faith in each other. He also said, ‘Roads and places should not be named after’ invaders’. I did not say that there should not be a Muslim name. APJ Abdul Kalam, Abdul Hameed should be named there.

RSS Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat said that the Sangh does not believe in attacking anyone on religious grounds and has always come forward to help everyone during disasters like Kerala floods and Gujarat earthquakes. He said that he believes that religion is a matter of personal choice and there should not be any kind of temptation or force in this matter.

The RSS chief cited conversion and illegal migration as the major causes of demographic imbalance in the country and said that the government is trying to stop infiltration and also play its role from the society. Mohan Bhagwat said that the jobs should not be found to illegal migrants, but our people, including Muslims.

Mohan Bhagwat said that he agrees with the argument that the DNA of the people of Bangladesh and India is the same, but every country has its own rules and regulations and people interested in migration should follow these rules.

Mohan Bhagwat also dismissed the allegations that the RSS had been involved in violence. He said, ‘No organization involved in violence can reach 75 lakh places in India or get so much support. If we were like this, would we have organized such programs? We would be underground somewhere.
