US President Donald Trump spoke on phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday (December 12, 2025). This conversation between the two leaders took place after allegations of drone attack on Putin’s residence. Russia has alleged that Ukraine tried to attack Putin’s government house with a drone, while Zelensky called Moscow’s allegations fabricated. White House Press Secretary Carolyn Leavitt posted on Instagram that President Trump had a positive conversation with President Putin regarding Ukraine.

‘Good thing we didn’t give Tomahawk missiles to Zelensky’

According to RT News report, recent security developments were also discussed in this conversation. Putin aide Yuri Ushakov said Trump was shocked and angry over the attack on the Russian president’s residence. During the conversation, Trump said, ‘Thank God we did not give Tomahawk missiles to Zelensky.’ According to Ushakov, Trump said that he had not imagined such a crazy action. There was a second phone conversation between the two leaders within 24 hours.

‘Ukraine targeted Russia’s presidential residence’

Before the meeting with Zelensky, Trump had said that Moscow is serious about peace. He said that we are very close to the agreement reached to end Russia’s attacks on Ukraine. The US President said that diplomatic efforts to end the Ukraine war are in the final stages. However, meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that on the night of December 28, Ukraine targeted the official residence of the Russian President with 91 long-range drones, but the air defense system shot down all the drones.

What did Putin say about the peace agreement?

Moscow is looking for an excuse to attack Kiev: Zelensky

Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky denied the attack on Putin’s official residence. He said, ‘Russia wants to jeopardize the efforts made by America and Ukraine for peace. They are just looking for an excuse to attack the government house in Kiev.

The eyes of the world were fixed on the meeting of Donald Trump and Zelensky in Florida on Sunday (28 December 2025). After the meeting, both the leaders had announced that the peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine has been completed by 90 percent. The biggest dispute in the agreement is regarding the Donbass region. Russia considers it as its part, whereas Ukraine is not ready to give up its land.
