Subhash Ghai wrote the script in 15 days
Subhash Ghai had told in an interview that usually he spends a lot of time on the script of a film, but this did not happen with ‘Ram Lakhan’. He wrote the script of this film in just 15 days. He completed this work while staying in Khandala. Ghai had told that he had to start shooting for the film soon, so he worked with the available actors. Instead of stars, he wanted artists who could start working immediately.
Story of ‘Ram Lakhan’
‘Ram Lakhan’ is a family revenge drama, which is the story of two brothers Ram and Lakhan. Ram (Jackie Shroff) turns out to be an honest police officer, while Lakhan (Anil Kapoor) is a mischievous and careless young man. Both their fathers are murdered by their uncle Vishwambhar (Amrish Puri). Their mother Sharda (Rakhi) prepares her sons for revenge. The film has themes of good-evil, brotherhood and justice.

In Subhash Ghai’s film, along with Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, stars like Dimple Kapadia (Radha), Madhuri Dixit (Chandni), Anupam Kher, Satish Kaushik, Gulshan Grover are also in important roles. The music of the film was given by Laxmikant-Pyarelal, which was a superhit. Songs like ‘My Name Is Lakhan’, ‘Bada Dukh Diya O Ramji’, ‘Tera Naam Liya Tujhe Yaad Kiya’ are popular even today.
According to the information, ‘Ram Lakhan’ became the second highest grossing film of that year. It proved to be a blockbuster and received 9 nominations at the 35th Filmfare Awards, in which Rakhi received the Best Supporting Actress Award. At the same time, Satish Kaushik and Anupam Kher also received the award.
