The Rath Yatra will depart for Gundicha temple on 27 June in Puri, Odisha. It is said that all the crises of those who are involved in the Rath Yatra are removed. Many types of traditions are played on 9 days of Rath Yatra. Chhera rituals are performed on the first day.
This ritual is a sign of the beginning of the Rath Yatra. The Chhera Pahara, which has been going on for years, the Gajapati king of Puri, who is considered the first servant of Lord Jagannath, clears the way in front of the chariots with a gold broom and sprinkle water mixed with sandalwood on the way.
The purpose of this symbolic cleaning is to purify the path of God, only then the chariot is drawn. This shows that the king and the general public are all the same in front of God.
It is believed that devotees express their devotion and dedication by cleaning with gold broom. Through this, devotees wish to offer the best to God on their behalf.

According to Skanda Purana, a person who cleans the path of Lord Jagannath’s chariot journey attains salvation. It is said that it ends negativity in a person’s life and also brings happiness and prosperity.
