Puri Jagannath Temple Calendar 2026: The administration of Lord Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha has apologized to the people on Wednesday. In fact, inside this grand temple of the 12th century, the calendar which shows Lord Jagannath, Baldev and Subhadra sitting on the Ratna throne in the wrong position has been banned.
The Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) said that the pictures published in the calendar for the year 2026 have been inspired by a century-old palm leaf manuscript preserved in the Odisha State Museum. He said that the artwork printed on the calendar reflects the style of the painter of that period and is not intended to hurt religious sentiments in any way.
SJTA said in a statement that this is the art of a painter of that time. I hope that the devotees of Jagannath Swami will not take it wrong.
Temple authorities ban calendar sale
This decision was taken after huge outrage in the state over depiction of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra as per temple traditions. The administrators associated with the temple have directed the officials to stop the sale of the calendar and publicly apologize for the unintentional mistake made by the administration.
Actually, wrong picture was printed in the table, calendar and wall calendar issued by the temple administration. The image depicts Balabhadra instead of Lord Jagannath, which is against traditions. BJD spokesperson Mohanty said that SJTA had not consulted experts before using the old artwork.
