Jainism: There are five principles of Jaina religion which are as follows- non-violence, truth, akaurya or astheya (not stealing). Brahmacharya, Aparigraha. Among all these principles, Ahimsa is the major principle, which is strictly followed. In the five fasts of Jainism, inconsistency is considered to be the foundation stone of this religion.

In Jainism, all kinds of living creatures, no matter what their size, is like spiritual development, all are considered the same. People of this religion cannot think of any living beings, animals, birds, even small insects and damage to somehow kill or harm. Because every living creature has the right to survive.

People of Jainism also apologize to insects

Jain literature states- “Do not hurt any creature or living creature, do not abuse, do not suppress, do not make slaves, do not insult, do not suffer, do not torture or kill.” People of Jainism avoid damaging any living creature, including insects, because no creature should hurt by mind, word or deed, no matter how micro -organisms are. Based on the principle of religion-

  • Every creature has a soul and it can attain salvation
  • Unknown violence is also a sin. Inadvertently, if insects or micro-organisms are killed, then it is necessary to atone for it.
  • On the day of Paryushan festival and forgiveness, Jain followers apologize for all kinds of violence (killing of insects) in unknowingly.
  • “Michmi Dukkadam” is a symbol of forgiveness and repentance in Jainism. This means that, “If I have deliberately hurt you, then Please excuse me.” In this, people of Jainism apologize from all living beings, even insects and insects.
