There was panic on the Delhi-Ajmer Highway in Jaipur when a chemical tanker filled with hydrogen peroxide collided with a truck coming from the front. The collision was so strong that the front part of the truck was completely damaged.
The accident happened just before Shahpura, after which long queues of vehicles formed on both sides of the highway. Within no time the entire road was jammed and traffic was completely affected.
Fire brigade and police teams reached the spot
As soon as information about the incident was received, police and fire brigade vehicles reached the spot. Due to the presence of dangerous chemicals in the tanker, the administration immediately took precaution and cordoned off the area.
Nearby people and vehicles were stopped at a safe distance, so that any major danger could be avoided. It is a matter of relief that till now there has been no official information about any casualty.
Tanker removed with the help of crane
With the help of police and local people, a crane was immediately called and with great care the damaged chemical tanker was removed to the roadside. Due to the tanker being filled with dangerous substances, the relief work was carried out with caution so that there was no leakage of any kind.
During this time, traffic on the highway was completely affected and long queues of vehicles formed on both sides. After the tanker was removed, traffic was gradually resumed. After a lot of effort and waiting, the traffic jam started clearing, but till then people had to face a lot of trouble for hours.

Local people say that if the chemical filled in the tanker had leaked or exploded, the situation could have become even more serious. This accident has once again raised questions on the safety of chemical transport. Are adequate precautions being taken during transportation of such hazardous substances?
