A shocking case of hit and run after drunk and drive has come to light in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, known as the Pink City. Here a high speed Audi car hit the food stalls and dhabas on the service lane and crushed sixteen shopkeepers and customers present there. One person died in this incident, while 15 people were seriously injured. Three people have been discharged after initial treatment, while the remaining injured are being treated in different hospitals of the city.
After hitting and crushing many people, the Audi car itself overturned after hitting a tree. There were four people in the car at the time of the accident. Three people including the driver fled from the spot, while one accused has been taken into custody by the police. Police have taken the Audi car that caused the accident into custody.
Deputy CM and Health Minister reached to meet the injured
After the accident, on the instructions of CM Bhajanlal Sharma, Deputy CM Premchand Bairwa along with Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar and Minister of State for Home Jawahar Singh Bedam visited different hospitals to inquire about the condition of the injured. The ministers have claimed that strict action will be taken against the culprits. However, this incident has exposed the claims of the police of running a campaign against drunk driving in Jaipur. If the police had stopped this Audi car earlier during checking, such a big accident would not have happened.
16 shopkeepers and customers crushed by Audi car
This heart-wrenching incident took place in Kharbas Circle of Journalist Colony on the outskirts of Jaipur city. At around 10 pm, a high-speed Audi car comes and hits the outer boundary of the circle first. The collision is so strong that some part of the boundary gets uprooted. After this the car becomes more uncontrollable. Instead of the straight road ahead, it enters the service lane. There were food stalls and dhabas on both sides of the service lane. The Audi car moves ahead, hitting and crushing the 16 shopkeepers and customers present there and overturns after hitting a tree in front.
The collision is so strong that the food stalls overturn or break into two to three pieces. Food items and people’s slippers and shoes are seen scattered far and wide. Ramesh Bairwa, a resident of Bhilwara, who was seriously injured in this accident, died during treatment in the hospital. He used to work as a helper at a food stall. According to officers, the condition of the injured admitted in different hospitals is now out of danger.
Now strict steps will be taken – Deputy CM
Deputy CM Premchand Bairwa says that now strict steps will be taken to stop such accidents. According to Minister of State for Home Jawahar Singh Bedam, strict action will be taken against the culprits. DCP South Rajarshi Raj told that the Audi car had the number plate of Daman and Diu. There were four people on it. Of these, two were residents of Churu district of Rajasthan, while the remaining two were from Renwal of Ajmer district. A person present in the car has been detained. Based on this interrogation, the remaining three people have been identified.
Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar says that all the injured are being given better treatment at government expense. According to DCP City Rajarshi Raj, the Audi car has been confiscated. Teams have been formed to arrest the remaining three people including the driver present in the car.
Regarding this accident, CM Bhajanlal Sharma along with the Deputy CM and ministers sent his family members to the hospital to inquire about the condition of the injured. He has also asked the officials to provide all possible help to the injured and take strict action against the culprits. It can be said that if Jaipur Police had worked at ground zero instead of papers to stop drunk and driving and had stopped this Audi car earlier, such a big accident would not have happened.
