Muharram 2025 News: A unique Muharram procession was taken out on the occasion of Muharram, a day before Ashura, remembering the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Mohammed at the world famous Dal Lake of Srinagar. Shikara came from different parts of the valley riding on boats. People who mourned Shia joined the 185 -year -old traditional boat Muharram procession in the inner areas of Dal Lake in Srinagar.
The condolences gathered in Rainawadi, from where they started a procession on wooden boats in the interiors of Dal from Rainawadi to Cancach. People who mourn follow the traditional procession, which has been going on for years. People take a large number of Shikara in the interiors of Dal Lake.

The procession ends on the day of Ashura in Imambara Hasnabad in Srinagar, which is a symbol of the anniversary of the martyrdom of the Prophet’s grandson Hussain, his family and loyal companions in the desert of Karbala 1400 years ago.
