Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti once again raised the issue of not getting bail to Umar Khalid. He said that Umar Khalid had not said anything wrong, he had not broken any bounds of decorum, but today he is not getting bail for five years. With great difficulty he was allowed to attend his sister’s wedding.
Mehbooba Mufti said, “We do not even talk to the youth about what they think, what they do. What problems are there in his mind? Who should he talk to? I don’t know how much you can speak in Jammu but you cannot talk in Kashmir.
‘Umar Khalid did not break any bounds of etiquette’
Referring to former JNU student Umar Khalid, the PDP chief said, “Umar Khalid had not said anything wrong, he had not broken any bounds of decorum, but today he is not getting bail for the last five years.” With great difficulty he was allowed to attend his sister’s wedding. So somewhere within our country this system has been formed.
Challenges and opportunities are not different – Mehbooba Mufti
He further said, “This is not just intolerance against Muslims but general intolerance. Today there are challenges here, so I say there is opportunity with them. Challenges and opportunities are not different. There is a question and an answer, so where there is a question there will be an answer also.
Khalid got interim bail for his sister’s marriage.
It is noteworthy that on December 11, Delhi Court had granted interim bail to former JNU student Umar Khalid to attend his sister’s wedding. During this time also the PDP chief had given his reaction. He had alleged that it was surprising that Umar Khalid had to wait 5 years for 13 days parole to attend his sister’s wedding. Umar Khalid is an accused in the case related to the conspiracy of 2020 Delhi riots.
